About the university

University of Oxford's BM BCh is a 6-year undergraduate medical degree via the Medical Sciences Division: 3 years pre-clinical (BA in Medical Sciences) plus 3 years clinical training. Ranked 1st globally for Medicine for the 15th consecutive year (Times Higher Education 2026). Only a maximum of 14 international (overseas-fee) students are admitted per year due to government quota. Established 1096.

Documents required

UCAS Online Application Form (code A100); Personal Statement; Academic Reference(s); UCAT test results (mandatory at every school on this list; GAMSAT accepted at some as an alternative); English Language Test scores (IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, PTE, or Duolingo depending on the school - Oxford/Imperial ask the highest scores: IELTS 7.0-7.5 overall); official transcripts or predicted grades; copy of passport; NEET scorecard (required for Indian applicants at every UK medical school).

Accommodation

College accommodation is guaranteed for pre-clinical years (1-3), typically a standard en-suite college room. During clinical placements (Years 4-6), accommodation is often provided by the NHS or hospital trust at minimal or no cost - which is why the Hostel Fee columns above drop to $0 for those years.

Mess & food for Indian students

No Indian-mess-specific detail published on the source for UK MBBS schools; catered accommodation options (where offered) include meals - see the Accommodation / Hostel column.

Visa process & support

Admitted students apply for a UK Student visa after the university issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). 2026 visa fee: approx. GBP 558 (~USD 764). A mandatory annual Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) of GBP 776/year (~USD 1,063/year) grants full NHS access - this adds up over a 5-6 year MBBS. Processing typically takes 3-4 weeks from CAS receipt. During study, up to 20 hours/week of part-time work is allowed in term time, unlimited during holidays. After graduation, the Graduate Route visa allows 2 years of post-study work (18 months for those applying on or after 1 January 2027), with no employer sponsorship or job offer required first.
