About the university

Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), established in 1997, provides medical care training for foreign students pursuing MBBS in Nepal. It runs a teaching hospital offering extensive training and internship programs, is affiliated with Kathmandu University, and its graduates are eligible to apply for the California Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter (PTAL). Private, ECFMG approved, English medium.

Documents required

Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates; current-year NEET-UG scorecard; valid Indian passport; recent passport-size photographs; migration or transfer certificate from the last institution attended; medical fitness certificate; NEET-UG admit card.

Accommodation

KMC runs two hostels with spacious, comfortable, fully furnished, air-conditioned rooms, a common room, a laundry room, and a reliable security system. Off-campus accommodation nearby in Kathmandu is also offered for students who prefer it; students cover their own electricity and water costs.

Mess & food for Indian students

Mess facilities are built into the hostel package, with separate mess arrangements for boys and girls; the on-site canteen serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

Visa process & support

No student visa is required: under the India-Nepal open border treaty, Indian citizens can enter and stay in Nepal on a passport (needed to fly) or a government-issued photo ID such as a voter ID card (works for land crossings). Admission runs through Nepal's centralized MEC portal (entrance.mec.gov.np) via the MECEE-BL exam or a NEET-UG merit route, followed by a computerized seat-matching result, biometric capture and document verification at the MEC office in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, and payment of the first fee instalment directly to the university's official bank account.
